BOMA-Atlanta has created a special classification of membership specifically for building engineers. BOMA Technical Organization (BTO) membership gives building engineers the opportunity to grow while becoming more involved in the industry. Individuals who may join the BOMA Technical Organization are building engineers and others with similar responsibilities. Membership rates are below.

Individuals from BOMA-member companies
  $125 each

Individuals from non-BOMA-member companies
  $155 each

BTO members gain skills and knowledge through quarterly luncheons, educational courses and other events designed with them in mind. Active involvement in the BTO allows engineers to increase their knowledge, improve building efficiency and safety, reduce costs and return profit to their companies. Below are a few of the many ways in which BTO membership translates into value. To learn more, e-mail Gabriel Eckert about attending a BTO lunch and learn program.

  • New Building Engineering 101 Course: BOMA developed this comprehensive training program specifically for building engineers. The six-day course is taught over six weeks and combines classroom-style learning, interaction with industry professionals and behind-the-scenes tours of metro-Atlanta buildings.
  • Commercial HVAC Program: Designed for building engineers, the Commercial HVAC program is a unique partnership between Chattahoochee Technical College and BOMA. Individuals who complete each of the five courses in the program earn a Commercial HVAC certificate from Chattahoochee Tech and BOMA-Atlanta.
  • Professional Designations: Through a partnership with the BOMI Institute, BOMA offers two professional designations for building engineers: the Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT) and the Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA). Receiving a BOMI designation confers a mark of distinction and provides the skills to grow both personally and professionally. BTO members also receive registration discounts on many other educational programs offered by BOMA-Atlanta.
  • Industry Information: During quarterly BTO luncheons and the annual BTO trade show breakfast, members receive up-to-date knowledge of key issues affecting the operational efficiency and profitability of buildings. Each year, BOMA-Atlanta also provides a safety training seminar for building engineers. Previous workshops include fire safety and electrical safety, among other topics.
  • Reduced Costs and Increased Profits: The knowledge that engineers gain through BTO programs directly affects the profitability of the buildings they operate. Increased knowledge translates into increased efficiency. And increased efficiency results in increased profits.

“The BOMA-Atlanta BTO has brought great value to Winthrop Management.
Through the BTO, Winthrop engineers have received training in building
safety and maintenance, and have sharpened their professional skills in a
number of different areas. This, in turn, has resulted in greater productivity
and in significant cost savings for my company. I greatly appreciate
BOMA-Atlanta’s foresight in creating this targeted program
for building engineers.”
Florence Barbour, RPA, CPM, Regional Vice President, Winthrop Management LP
